Massage Therapy

Massage, as a healing art, is thousands of years old. Ancient civilizations, including Chinese, Hindus, Persians and Egyptians, used massage to treat pain and promote health. Massage is currently one of the most popular wellness therapies in the United States.

Massage is soft tissue manipulation - the stroking, rubbing and kneading of muscles. Massage is used to relieve tension, relax muscles and stimulate nerves. It is thought to promote healing by stimulating the movement of blood and lymphatic fluids.

There are many different types of massage and massage techniques are used in many forms of bodywork, including reflexology, trigger point therapy, manual lymph drainage and others. Massage may be used to treat a wide variety of conditions including muscle and joint pain, soft tissue injuries, arthritis, chronic fatigue, depression, anxiety, high blood pressure and diabetes.
